Data Sharing, Availability & Reproducibility Policy

FJMRI champions open science and reproducible scholarship. We mandate transparent Data Availability Statements for all published empirical manuscripts.

📊 Mandatory DAS 🌐 FAIR Principles 💻 Open Source Code Last Updated: January 2026

01. Mandatory Data Availability Statement (DAS)

Every empirical research article, clinical investigation, or computational paper submitted to Frontier Journal of Multidisciplinary Research and Innovation must include a formal Data Availability Statement positioned directly before the References.

💡
Peer Review Transparency: Reviewers are encouraged to examine raw datasets, instrument output files, and analytical scripts to verify empirical claims and prevent statistical manipulation.

02. FAIR Data Principles Alignment

FJMRI adheres to the international FAIR data stewardship framework:

Findable

Datasets should possess rich metadata and a persistent digital identifier (such as a DOI or accession code).

Accessible

Data should be retrievable using standard, open communications protocols without technical barriers.

Interoperable

Data should use formal, standardized, and machine-actionable vocabularies and open formats (e.g. CSV, JSON, NetCDF).

Reusable

Data should carry clear usage licensing (e.g. CC0 or CC BY) and comprehensive documentation describing collection methods.

03. Recommended Open Science Data Repositories

Rather than relying solely on "data available upon request," authors are strongly urged to deposit datasets into established discipline-specific or generalist repositories:

  • Generalist Repositories: Zenodo (CERN), Figshare, Dryad Digital Repository, Harvard Dataverse, OSF (Open Science Framework).
  • Genomics & Biology: NCBI GenBank, EMBL-EBI, UniProt, GEO, SRA.
  • Crystallography & Chemistry: Cambridge Structural Database (CSD), PubChem, Protein Data Bank (PDB).
  • Earth & Space Science: PANGAEA, NASA Earthdata, Copernicus Open Access Hub.

04. Source Code, Scripts & Computational Reproducibility

For manuscripts describing new algorithms, machine-learning models, computational workflows, or custom bioinformatics pipelines:

💻
Code Deposition: Authors must archive their analysis scripts and software in an open-access repository (e.g., GitHub with Zenodo DOI minting, Software Heritage, or Code Ocean). A snapshot DOI must be cited in the manuscript text alongside system environment requirements.

05. Legitimate Legal & Ethical Restrictions

FJMRI recognizes that in specific circumstances, unrestricted open data sharing may compromise patient confidentiality, commercial trade secrets, or national biosecurity.

In such cases, the authors must explain the exact nature of the restriction in the Data Availability Statement (e.g., "Datasets contain sensitive patient clinical data and are accessible to qualified researchers upon approval of the Institutional Ethics Committee").

06. Standard Approved DAS Statement Templates

Authors may adapt one of the following standardized templates:

Option A (Public Repository): "The raw and processed datasets generated during this study are openly available in [Repository Name] at [Persistent DOI / URL]."

Option B (Included in Article): "All data supporting the findings of this study are available within the article and its supplementary files."

Option C (Ethical Access Restriction): "The clinical data underlying this study cannot be shared publicly due to human patient privacy regulations. Anonymized data are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable academic request and ethics board approval."
